Working with the cBook Dashboard

The new dashboard was released with v8.1.0 in July 2026.

What is the dashboard?

The dashboard is your home screen — the first thing you see when you open the Creator. It's where all your cBooks live. From here you can jump back into what you were last working on, create new cBooks, and find any cBook in your library using search, filters, and sorting.

Everything on the dashboard loads at once, so searching, filtering, and sorting are instant — there's no waiting for pages to reload.

Dashboard overview

The dashboard is organized top to bottom into a few clear areas:

  • Header — the "My cBooks" title, a summary of your library, the search box, and the New cBook and Import buttons.
  • Filters — narrow your library down by language and (if enabled) category.
  • Continue editing — a quick-access strip of the cBooks you've touched most recently.
  • All cBooks — your full library, shown as tiles or as a list.

The header at a glance

The header shows a live count of your library, for example "12 cBooks". When you have a search or filter active, it changes to show how many match, for example "3 of 12 cBooks".

Next to the count you may also see quick stats:

  • Edited this week — how many cBooks you or your team have changed in the last 7 days.
  • Locked — how many of your cBooks are locked.

Creating a new cBook

Click New cBook in the header. A dialog opens with two ways to start:

  • Start from scratch — creates an empty cBook that you build up slide by slide.
  • Generate with AI — lets AI draft a cBook from a topic you provide, which you can then refine. (This option is only available if your plan includes AI creation. If it's greyed out, you'll see a note explaining it isn't available on your plan.)

If you choose Start from scratch, you'll be asked for a name:

  1. Type a cBook name (up to 200 characters). A suggested name with today's date is filled in for you, so you can just press Enter if you like it.
  2. Click Create cBook. Your new cBook opens straight in the editor, ready to go.

Use Back to return to the two choices, or Cancel to close the dialog without creating anything.

Good to know: if you've reached your cBook limit, the New cBook button is disabled and its tooltip tells you so. You'll need to delete a cBook (or ask about your plan) to make room.

Importing a cBook

If you have a cBook package saved as a .zip file, click Import in the header and choose the file. A progress bar shows the upload percentage, and you can Cancel while it's running.

Only .zip files are accepted — pick anything else and you'll get a "Please choose a .zip file" message. The Import button also appears only if your account has permission to import.

Continue editing

The Continue editing strip sits near the top and shows up to four cBooks you've recently been working on, as larger tiles for easy access. It's the fastest way to pick up where you left off.

This strip is hidden whenever you're searching or filtering — in that mode you're looking for something specific, so it steps out of the way. If you haven't started working on anything yet, it simply doesn't appear.

Finding a cBook

The search box lives in the header. Start typing and your library filters instantly. Search matches on the cBook title only, and it's not case-sensitive.

  • The × button clears your search.
  • Handy shortcut: press the / key anywhere on the dashboard to jump straight into the search box.

Filters

Below the header is the Filters panel. It lets you narrow your library by:

  • Language — click any language chip (DE, EN, and so on) to show only cBooks in that language. Each chip has a small number showing how many cBooks use it. Selecting several languages shows cBooks in any of them.
  • Categories (only if your account uses categories) — filter by category entries. Extra category rows are tucked behind a Show more categories toggle; use Show less to collapse them again.

When categories are involved: picking entries within one category widens your results (any of them match), while picking entries across different categories narrows them (a cBook must match each category you've filtered on).

Click Clear all to remove every active filter and search at once.

Active filter chips

Whenever a search or filter is active, you'll see a row of chips just above your results — one for your search text, one per selected language, and one per selected category. Remove any single condition by clicking its chip, or wipe them all with Clear all.

Sorting

Use the Sort button above your library to change the order. Your choices are:

  • Recently edited (the default) — most recently changed cBooks first.
  • Title (A–Z)
  • Title (Z–A)
  • Language
  • Date created — newest first.

The current choice is shown right on the button, e.g. "Sort: Recently edited". Tip: when you sort by Date created, the tiles switch to showing each cBook's creation date instead of when it was last edited.

Grid view vs. list view

Toggle between two layouts using the view buttons above your library:

  • Grid view — visual tiles, each with a cover image, the title, its language, and a short "Edited …" line. Locked cBooks show a lock badge, and the cover shows a slide-count badge (e.g. "12 slides").
  • List view — a compact table, better for scanning lots of cBooks at once.

Your choice is remembered for next time.

What the list view shows

Each row in list view has these columns (some are hidden on narrow screens to keep things readable):

  • Title — the cBook name, with a lock icon if it's locked.
  • Language — shown as a coloured chip.
  • Last edited — the date and time you or your team last changed it.
  • Created — the date it was created.
  • Last exported — when you last exported it, or Never if you haven't.
  • Navigation — whether the cBook uses Linear or Open navigation.
  • Actions — the menu button (see below).

Opening a cBook

Click anywhere on a tile or a list row to open the cBook. If you have editing rights it opens in the editor; otherwise it opens as a preview in a new tab.

Actions on a single cBook

Each tile and row has a ⋮ (More actions) menu. Which items you see depends on your permissions for that cBook:

  • Preview — opens the published cBook in a new browser tab. Always available.
  • Configuration — jumps to the cBook's general settings.
  • Translations… — opens the translation settings (available to admins).
  • Export cBook — opens the export/SCORM settings.
  • Duplicate — makes a copy, named after the original with "copy" added to the end. (Disabled if you're at your cBook limit.)
  • Delete — permanently removes the cBook (shown in red).

There's no separate rename or share action here — to rename, duplicate with a new name or use the cBook's settings.

Deleting a cBook

Choosing Delete opens a confirmation dialog titled "Delete cBook?". It asks you to confirm you want to permanently delete the named cBook, and warns that this cannot be undone.

  • Click Cancel to back out.
  • Click Delete (the red button) to remove it for good.

Once confirmed, the cBook greys out and disappears from your library. Because deletion is permanent, only delete a cBook you're certain you no longer need.

When your library is empty

  • No cBooks yet — if you haven't created anything, you'll see "No cBooks yet" with a prompt to create your first cBook.
  • No matches — if a search or filter hides everything, you'll see "No cBooks match your filters" along with a Clear filters button to get all your cBooks back.
