The Review System
Introduction
The review system lets you collect feedback on your cBook from colleagues, customers, or external testers — all in one place. You export your cBook to the review system, invite reviewers, and they can leave comments on individual slides. No login is needed for external reviewers if you share a link.
Getting Started: Exporting Your cBook
To start a review, you first need to export your cBook to the review system.
- Open your cBook and go to Publish cBook in the cBook Settings
- Switch to the Review tab
- Click Start Export to open the export dialog
- Choose how you want to export:
- As new review — Creates a brand-new review. You can give it a custom title (defaults to your cBook name).
- As new version of an existing review — Adds your updated cBook as a new version to a review that already exists. Select the review from the dropdown.
- Click Export to review system
Once the export is complete, you'll see a confirmation message. You can then switch to the review system to configure and share your review.
Note: If you don't see the Review tab, this feature may not be enabled for your account. Contact your sales representative to get access.
The Review Dashboard
When you open the review system, you land on My Reviews — your central dashboard. Here you'll see all reviews you have access to, displayed as cards.
Each review card shows:
- The review title
- The current version number
- Whether the review is open for feedback or finished
- Whether a shared link is enabled or disabled
- When the review was created and last updated
From the dashboard, you can:
- Open a review to view slides and comments
- Jump directly to the comment overview or your personal feedback
- Edit review settings (if you're an administrator)
- Delete a review
- Filter reviews by language
The dashboard also shows how much storage your review packages are using. Consider deleting old reviews regularly to free up space.
Roles and Permissions
Every review member is assigned one of three roles. These determine what they can see and do within the review.
Administrator
Administrators have full control. They can configure the review, manage members and their roles, enable or disable shared links, close and delete reviews, and leave comments. They can mention other team members and administrators in comments, and they can be mentioned by others. Administrators also have access to the "Feedback for me" page. Every review must have at least one administrator.
Team Member
Team members can access the review, leave comments, and reply to existing ones. Like administrators, they can mention other team members and administrators in comments using @mentions, and they can be mentioned by others. They also have access to the "Feedback for me" page, where they can see all comments they've been mentioned in. This role is ideal for internal colleagues who are responsible for acting on feedback.
Reviewer
Reviewers can access the review, leave comments, and reply to them. They cannot mention other users, and they cannot be mentioned in comments. They do not have access to the "Feedback for me" page. This role is recommended for customers or external testers.
Navigating a Review
When you open a review, you'll see the cBook content displayed alongside a side panel. The side panel has several sections:
Overview — The main view where you can browse through slides and see comments for each one. Use the navigation arrows to move between slides.
All Comments — A complete list of every comment across all slides. Each comment shows who wrote it, when, and on which slide it was created. You can filter this list to show or hide resolved comments.
Feedback for me (Team Members and Administrators only) — Shows only the comments where you've been personally mentioned. This is your task list — a quick way to see what needs your attention.
Settings (Administrators only) — Where you configure the review title, members, sharing, and closure.
Working with Comments
Adding a Comment
On any slide, you'll find a comment input area in the side panel. Type your comment and press Enter or click the send button. Your comment will be attached to the current slide.
When you post a comment, some technical information about your browser, operating system, screen size, and viewport is stored alongside it. To view this information for any comment, click on the comment author's avatar. A popover will appear showing:
- When the comment was last updated
- Operating system (name, version, and architecture)
- Browser name and version
- Device screen size and orientation
- Viewport size (the visible area in the browser window)
This is useful for understanding the context in which feedback was given, especially when someone reports a display issue.
Replying to Comments
Each comment has a reply field underneath it. Use this to create threaded conversations — for example, to ask follow-up questions or confirm that feedback has been addressed.
Mentioning Team Members
If you're a team member or administrator, you can mention someone by typing @ in any comment or by clicking the @ button. An autocomplete list will appear showing all mentionable users. When you mention someone, they'll see the comment highlighted in their "Feedback for me" section.
If no users appear when you type @, it means no team members have been added to the review yet. An administrator needs to add them in the review settings first.
Editing a Comment
You can edit your own comments at any time by clicking the edit icon. After editing, the comment will show an "edited" label. Anyone can click this label to view the comment's version history and see what was changed.
Resolving Comments
Once a piece of feedback has been addressed, you can mark the comment as "resolved" by clicking the checkmark icon. Resolved comments can be hidden using the "Show resolved comments" toggle. Once a comment is resolved, it can no longer be edited or replied to. You can mark a resolved comment as "unresolved" again if the issue comes back, which re-enables editing and replying.
Managing Review Members
As an administrator, you manage who has access to your review and what role they have.
- Go to your review's Settings
- Scroll to Review members and permissions
- Click Add members to invite new users
- Select one or more users from the list, assign them a role, and confirm
The member table shows each person's name, username, and role. You can edit a member's role or remove them at any time. Keep in mind that you cannot remove the last administrator — there must always be at least one.
External users (those not registered in your organization's system) are highlighted with a special icon. If the shared link is disabled, these users may lose access to the review.
Sharing a Review via Link
You can share your review with anyone — even people without an account — by generating a shared link.
- Open the review's Settings
- Under Share review, toggle on Allow access via shared link
- Save your changes
- A link will appear that you can copy and send to your reviewers
The shared link always points to a specific version of your review. If you want to share a different version, switch to that version first using the version switcher in the upper-right corner of the menu, then generate the link.
You can disable the shared link at any time. Be aware that disabling it will lock out any review members who rely on it for access (these members are highlighted in yellow in the member list).
Review Versions
Reviews support multiple versions, which lets reviewers track how your cBook evolves over feedback rounds.
When you export an updated cBook as a new version of an existing review, a new version is added. Reviewers can switch between versions using the version dropdown in the header. Comments are tied to the version they were created on, so you'll always know which version of the content a comment refers to.
This makes it easy to compare feedback across iterations and verify that earlier issues have been resolved in newer versions.
Closing a Review
When you've collected all the feedback you need, you can close the review to prevent further comments.
- Open the review's Settings
- Under Finish review, toggle on Close this review for further comments
- Save your changes
Once closed, a banner appears informing reviewers that the review is no longer accepting comments. Existing comments can still be viewed and resolved — but no new comments can be added.
You can reopen a closed review at any time by toggling the setting back off.
Deleting a Review
To delete a review, go to the dashboard, hover over the review card, and click the delete button. You'll be asked to confirm, since this action cannot be undone. Deleting reviews frees up storage space.
