Slide Links
Introduction
Slide links let you create clickable links within your content that navigate participants to a specific slide in your cBook. They are a powerful way to cross-reference content, build custom navigation flows, or direct learners to related material.
Slide links are available in all text editors across the Creator: the rich text editor (used in sequences, pages, book mode content, and more), the Quick Favourites editor, and the Page Builder.
Important: Slides within exams cannot be linked. Only regular content slides (sequences, pages, media pages, etc.) that are direct children of a chapter are available as link targets.
Creating a Slide Link in the Rich Text Editor
The rich text editor is used for most content types such as sequence keyframes, pages, book mode content, and feedback texts.
From the Toolbar
- Click the Slide Link button in the toolbar (link icon with the label "Slide link")
- A dialog opens with the title "Add link to a slide"
From a Text Selection
You can also create a slide link from selected text:
- Select the text you want to turn into a link
- A context toolbar appears above your selection
- Click the Slide Link button in the context toolbar
The Slide Link Dialog
The dialog contains the following fields:
- Link title — The text that will be displayed as the clickable link. If you selected text before opening the dialog, it's pre-filled here.
- Available Slides — A search field that filters the list below in real time. Type to narrow down the results.
- Slide list — A scrollable list of all available slides in your cBook. Each entry shows the slide name and its type (e.g., Sequence, Page, Media Page). Click on a slide to select it — the selected slide is highlighted.
Once you've chosen a slide and optionally set the link text, click Insert / update slide link to insert the link into your content.
Editing an Existing Slide Link
Click on an existing slide link in the editor. A context toolbar appears that lets you open the slide link dialog again to change the target slide or update the link text.
Creating a Slide Link in the Page Builder
In the Page Builder, slide links work through two mechanisms:
Using the Rich Text Extensions
When editing text within any text component in the Page Builder, you can create slide links just like in the standard text editor. Select text, and the context toolbar offers the slide link option.
Using the Link Button Component
The Page Builder also includes a Link Button component that can be configured as a slide link. Drag a Link Button onto your canvas and use its settings to point it to a specific slide.
Slide Links in Quick Favourites
The Quick Favourites editor (found in the General cBook settings) uses an enhanced version of the slide link feature with additional options.
Two Link Types
When you click the slide link button in the Quick Favourites editor, you first choose between:
- Slide — Link to a specific slide
- Chapter — Link to a chapter
Slide Link Options
When linking to a slide, you get additional display options:
- Hide page number — Hides the slide's page number in the Quick Favourites panel
- Hide visited indicator — Hides the indicator that shows whether a participant has already viewed the slide
- Hide favourite button — Hides the button that lets participants mark the slide as a favourite
- Advanced view — Offers additional styling options for the link's appearance
Chapter Link Options
When linking to a chapter, you get:
- Hide progress view — Hides the chapter progress indicator
- Hide sub-chapter — Hides the sub-chapter heading
Broken Slide Links (Conflicts)
When a slide that other slides link to is deleted, those links become broken. The Creator detects these broken links and warns you about them.
How Warnings Appear
Broken slide links are indicated in two places:
In the content tree (sidebar navigation):
- Affected slides are highlighted with a red background
- A warning icon appears next to the slide name
- The warning text reads: "Warning: Broken slide links found! Please update your links!"
In the cBook settings (Quick Favourites section):
- If Quick Favourites contain broken links, a warning message appears: "Attention: Some slide links have been deleted! Please review them!"
Viewing Details
Click the warning icon to see a popover with details about each broken link:
- The content area where the broken link was found (e.g., "Page content", "Book mode content", "Sequence keyframe", "Quick Favourites content")
- The original link text
- The link ID
Fixing Broken Links
Broken slide links must be fixed manually:
- Open the affected slide in the editor
- Find the broken link in the text
- Delete the broken link
- Create a new slide link pointing to the correct target
