Translations

Translate your cBook in a few steps.

Introduction

The Translations section lets you create translated versions of your cBook. The process works in three steps: you generate an XML file containing all texts from a published cBook package, have that file translated, and then upload the translated XML to automatically create a new cBook in the target language.

To access this section, open your cBook's settings and select Translations from the sidebar menu.

How It Works

Translating a cBook is a three-step process. You'll need a published cBook package first — if you haven't created one yet, go to the Publish cBook section and export a package.

Step 1: Generate an XML File

Click the generate icon (page with plus sign) next to the package you want to translate. The system extracts all texts from the package and creates an XML file. While the file is being generated, a spinning icon appears in the status column. Once ready, the status icon turns green.

Step 2: Download and Translate the XML

Click the download icon (arrow pointing down) to save the XML file to your computer. Send this file to your translator or translation service. The XML file contains all text content from the cBook in a structured format that can be edited with any text editor or translation tool.

Step 3: Upload the Translated XML

Once you have the translated XML file back, click the upload icon (cloud with arrow) next to the same package. A file dialog opens — select your translated XML file. The file must be in XML format. The system then processes the file and creates a new, translated cBook automatically.

After the translation process is finished, you can find the translated cBook in the Dashboard.

The Packages Table

The table shows all available cBook packages that can be used for translation. Only packages that have been successfully generated and haven't expired are listed.

For each package, the table displays:

  • Status — Shows the current state of the XML file:
    • Green translate icon — XML file has been generated and is ready for download
    • Spinning icon — XML file is currently being generated
    • Gray translate icon — No XML file generated yet
  • Package name — The name of the published package
  • Exported for — The learning group the package was exported for
  • Export Date — When the package was created
  • Download button — Appears once the XML has been generated; downloads the XML file
  • Generate/Upload button — Shows either:
    • A generate icon (page with plus sign) if no XML exists yet — click to create one
    • An upload icon (cloud with arrow) if an XML has already been generated — click to upload the translated version

Step-by-Step Example

Here's a typical translation workflow:

  1. Go to Publish cBook and export a SCORM package for the desired learning group
  2. Go to Translations
  3. Find your package in the table and click the generate icon to create the XML
  4. Wait for the spinning icon to turn green (the XML is ready)
  5. Click the download icon to save the XML file
  6. Send the XML file to your translator
  7. Once you receive the translated XML back, click the upload icon next to the same package
  8. Select the translated XML file from your computer
  9. The system creates a new cBook with the translated content
  10. Find the new, translated cBook in the Dashboard

Important Notes

  • You need a published cBook package before you can start translating. If the table is empty, create a package in the Publish cBook section first.
  • The uploaded file must be in XML format. Other file types will not be accepted.
  • Each translation creates a completely new cBook — the original cBook remains unchanged.
  • You can translate the same package into multiple languages by repeating the process with different translated XML files.
